Play Therapy

I offer a combination of child centred play therapy (CCPT) and Theraplay services for children between the ages of 4 to 12yrs. Through play therapy children learn to communicate with others, express feelings, modify behaviour, develop problem solving skills and learn a variety of ways of relating to others. In play therapy toys are like the child’s world and play is the child’s language (Landreth 2002). The process of Play Therapy with me is as follows:

  • The Play therapy process brings the parent / caregiver as a collaborative partner in the process of treatment. You play a crucial role in the successful journey of healing, growing and development for your child. This is achieved through ongoing parent consultations that are scheduled alongside your child’s play therapy sessions.

  • Play Therapy sessions are face to face, usually weekly and can last between 45 to 50min.

  • Parent consultations can last up to 60mins.
